So, if you are serious about driving more traffic to your blog, it’s time to start using Pinterest. Here are five ways in which you can get started on your Pinterest journey.

1. Start Creating Your Own Boards

One of the key points to using Pinterest successfully is to attract viewers to your boards/profile and get them to follow you. Since human beings are not one-tracked and have various different interests, it is good practice to cater to various needs by developing multiple boards to gain their attention.

Some of the basics you need to know are that the ideal aspect ratio for Pinterest images is 2:3, with a minimum width of 600 pixels. Long pins also tend to do better, so creating a beautiful long pin on Photoshop if you can, will be helpful.

Close-up images also work very well on Pinterest, so whether you’re promoting a recipe or an outfit, remember that macro photos are what you’re aiming for. Always keep in mind that people should feel like they are actually experiencing the object on your Pin.

3. Descriptive Copy Is Key

Aside from photos, on each pin you will find a space at the bottom to write texts and hashtags to ensure people fully understand what your pin is all about. For example, article pins always include a headline, author’s name and a story description. These pins, known as rich pins, allow you to shape how people perceive your board or pin.  Always remember that the headline you use should stick out to readers – this is your one chance to be big and bold, so don’t miss out!  Always remember to use easy to understand, bold and catchy language that appeals to your audience. 

Lastly, always use the same brand or name from your blog on your Pinterest account. Consistency is key and you want to avoid confusing followers.

4. Timing, Timing, Timing

Pinning at random times on different days is not a good strategy when it comes to being a champion on Pinterest. It is important for you to examine your blog traffic to uncover which are the best days and times to post your pins. The wisest strategy is to look at your blog traffic stats to see when you get the most traffic, and then schedule pins for that particular timeframe because that is when your target audience is surfing the net and will be most likely to spread the word.

Keep in mind, every sector is different. Timing that works well for Fashion bloggers may not work best for Food bloggers.  A little research will go a long way.

5. Keep Engaged With Your Community

With every Social Media platform, we know that engagement is always crucial in influencing people to visit your blog.
